Gerard “Gerry” Collins

Landscape, still life & portrait paintings in oil, pastel & acrylic, Gerry is among the most important contemporary artists in the Maritime region of Canada

His early education took him to the St. Martin’s School of Art in London, the Dusseldorf Staatliche Kunstakademie where he studied under Gerhard Richter, and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where he worked under Gerald Ferguson.

Collins has applied the “rules based” painting technique over the years to create defined series of paintings including; “Work Ethic”, “The Memory Series”, “Factory” and his latest series of paintings, ”Walt Whitman”, creating a body of work that is both demanding and beautiful.

Considered one of the finest contemporary artists in the region, Gerry’s work is in many important collections across the country, including the National Gallery of Canada, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, The Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Canada Council Art Bank as well as corporate and private collections.
